Review Carrera Red Buzzer

Welcome to my first post! My new blog is all about RC gadgets. I will start with the RC Helicopter Red Buzzer from Carrera. It is suitable for indoor use and controlled by 3 channels with an infared controller (IR). The Helicopter has the size of a 5-Euro-Note and is a so-called as micro helicopter.

Included Parts and Pricing

I bought the buzzer in a local toys store for 29.90 EUR. It’s regular price is 37.90 EUR.

Carrera included all that’s needed to start right away including the batteries for the remote control. The box contains the following parts:

  • Helicopter
  • Remote control
  • Manual
  • USB charger
  • 4xAA batteries
  • Replacement rotor blades
  • Replacement parts

Specifications

  • 3 Channel Coaxial Helicopter
  • metal chassis
  • IR remote control
  • flight time of up to 6 minutes
  • charging time: 30 minutes
  • intermal 3.7 V 150 mAH Lipo
  • USB charger
  • charging via controller
  • flashing led lights

Product quality

The chassis of the buzzer and connecting rods are of metal, the landing gear is plastic, since it must be flexible. The components are mostly bolted and not stuck or glued. The helicopter is well made and is very sturdy. You don’t get the feeling of breaking it when you touch the buzzer.

The remote control on the other side makes no visual impression of quality and looks quite cheap, but is also very robust. The USB charging cable is of very bad quality. While loading the battery the red status light flickers and one wonders if there is a loose connection. So far, charging has worked just fine and the flicker is probably a normal behavior. For the Red Buzzers many replacement parts are available, so that in a major accident a repair is possible.

Operating and Flight Characteristics

First you have to charge the helicopter, this can be done either by the controller or via USB cable. Then briefly nor the sticks (located in the two compartments of the remote control) to mount the controller. Now switch on the chopper and controller, wait a moment and start. The helicopter can be properly controlled and is quite good natured.
The battery lasts about 5-6 minutes and must then be charged for half an hour.

Target Group

For whom the Red Buzzer is suitable? Due to its robust design and its forgiving flight characteristics the helicopter can be unreservedly recommended to beginners. Real greenhorns who have never flown a helicopter should perform the first flight tests in the company of an already experienced helicopter pilots.

Conclusion

The Red Buzzer is an extremely high-quality and robust mini helicopter with good flight characteristics, the price-performance ratio fits! What I didn’t like was the cheaply made USB charger.
